[ Something wicked this way comes-- or rather, someone. Who is not at all pleased with Ardyn.

He makes sure to corner the squidman when he's alone, wearing a smile that in no way reaches his eyes. ]

I'd like a word with you.

[ Ardyn looks surprised but in his head he's trying to think of all the people he might have potentially pissed off within the last seventy-two hours. ]

May I ask the reason why?

Do you recall a tall man in rather threadbare robes with a cracked mask?

[ He keeps his voice pleasant. For now. ]

[ there's a flicker of realization -- and a broad smile. ]

Oh yes. It is hard for me to forget!

Oh, good. Then that makes this easy.

[ And just like that he gets right in Ardyn's personal space, seething. ]

You may have your way with anyone here - anyone. But him, you stay away from.

[ he blinks, but he doesn't step back. he does seem... amused, though, that seemingly by accident he's struck on this sore spot. ]

My my. He ran and tattled, did he.

What will you do if I hurt him again?

[ it's not like he plans to, really, but maybe he'll put the idea back on the menu. ]

[ His eyes narrow. He knows this type very well. Not intimidated, and like to go looking for another opportunity to hurt Hythlodaeus just because they can.

He straightens slowly, no longer looming. ]

I couldn't care less if you frighten him a little. Heavens know he needs it to keep his behaviour in check. But if you harm him again in any way, I will find a way to throw you into the void between worlds and I will make sure you go there screaming.

It would be a grand threat if it were not so empty. Tell me, how much of your power is retained here?

[ Ardyn knows from his own experience here already, and from talking with his Servant that there are limits in place. ]

[ In response he points a finger at Ardyn's chest. The other man will feel something...off. Like someone is squeezing the very core of him. Not his heart but whoever or whatever he IS. ]

[ oh! that's a particular sensation, and Ardyn does look surprised. he lifts his hand up to his chest as if to feel what's wrong. ]

I wonder if this was what he was referring to...? Does this mean you can see what lays inside me as well?

[ The pressure eases and he lowers his hand. ]

Yes. Such ugly darkness writhing in place of your soul. I can easily make it worse if I so choose.

Now that would be a challenge indeed. It would be more conducive to fix it, hmm?

Mm, no, I don't think so. 'Tis easier to destroy something than rebuild it.

And I don't feel like helping a man who relishes seeing others in pain.

Leave him alone as I have warned you and I may yet change my mind.

[ But he says it dismissively, not really expecting that to eventuate. Mortals like Ardyn don't have any sense of honour, in his view. ]

I wonder, what did he say of me, hmm? Did he have any kind words?

[ it's not said with the tone that implies he expects kind words. ]

If he had any kind words, they would be more than you deserve.

A pity. I worry he will be sacred of me now.

[ as if that were an unexpected result. ]

Mayhap you should have considered that before breaking his finger, and biting his neck, and stripping off his mask.
